This game has a background story of a world of death but with the theme of the film noir style. The main character of this game is Manuel Calavera (commonly called Manny), a sort of travel company employee in charge of guiding the death of the newly dead for over 4 years journey that must be done to reach the gates of the Ninth Underworld (World Death 9th).

Although the most visible to the adventure game is the story, the genre typically will add the challenge in the form of a puzzle that you must break before continuing the story. If you look from a variety of adventure games such modern series The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, or even a game of Double Fine Productions others are Broken Age, arguably puzzle owned the whole game is very easy, even hardly have to be considered as obstacles. But it is clearly different from the classic adventure games like Grim Fandango, because the puzzles that you will encounter in this game is very difficult.
